Gingerbread Village for NWHBA and America First

Every Year Peterson Builders donates a gingerbread house for the Northern Wasatch Home Builders Association (NWHBA) Christmas Party.

They have the "world-famous" (in the HBA world, at least) Gingerbread Parade of Homes.  The gingerbread homes go up for auction, and the proceeds will go to the NWHBA Charitable Foundation.

This year, we decided to keep it simple.  Tammy Peterson, Alix Piccolo and Elene Hess each decorated a house and then they put it together to make a village.  With an added pond, and some coconut snow, we hope it is a popular auction item.

A Custom Carved Stone Tub

A custom tub you say? That’s what we do!

The Kelly’s tore down an old house and are using the foundation for a new custom home.

When the Kelly’s said they wanted to build their house around a custom stone tub, we had no idea what we were in for.

The Kelly’s travel to Bali quite often.  On one of their trips, they found this stone tub and had it shipped back to the States.  When they started making plans for building they specified that they would need special engineering for this tub.  With construction underway, the day came when we organized to have the tub put in.  Wow, is that the tub?

With the hole in the floor, the rock surround finished on the backside and the tile ready, we started securing the stone tub to the crane. Ready, lift!

The tub weighs how much???  6300 lbs.!  That was double what the plans were engineered for.

As Erik called the engineer, the guys started to work on the trusses.

   

With adjusted specifications for added floor support, we were ready to go.

  

Up and away.  Almost there!

  

We did it!!

The Kelly’s were very relieved!

We are so excited about this project.  Not only did we have a great adventure getting this tub in, the Kelly’s have been so great to work with and have a lot of fun, unique ideas for this custom home.

Custom Home in Mountain Green

Front Entry
The Watkins home is finished!

This beautiful home, located in Mt. Green, belongs to the Watkins.  With beautiful timbers on the front entry, and double front doors, they can invite guests in style.
With a fresh blue sky in the background, a little landscaping will make this home spectacular.

There is a nice panoramic view from the porch in the back of the house that walks out from the master bedroom.  Sounds like a lovely spot for a nice morning cup of tea.

We have found that the Watkins have picked some light fixtures that are exceptionally noteworthy.

A beautiful caged candle fixture welcomes you as you enter the home.  The hallway is bright with 6 lights all in a row, the stairs are lit from ceiling to floor and the spare bathroom light is warm and inviting.

The bedroom lights are definitely one of a kind!  We love the variety and the personality that each one gives to the room.

The cabinets and handles are clean and crisp.  The back splash above the range is so unique and functional.

A few of our favorite things…We love the big open entry into the living room.  The colors are bright and the accents really set this room.

We've had another busy quarter here at Peterson Builders. Here's what's been going on...

We've started framing on the Kelly's project.

We've also made quite a bit of progress at the Watkin's home we started this spring.

It's been a busy few months! Here's a few things that have been happening at Peterson Builders Inc...

Chris Camburn was our employee of the quarter!

We finished the Wade's home! Check back for the finished photos next week.

We have also started a new project for the Kelly's. We will be demolishing their existing home and rebuilding on their existing foundation. We will be posting a lot of pictures once we start rebuilding. Here is a picture of the house in the demo process.

 

We should also be starting two new homes in the next month or two so there will be more pictures of those as well.
